Often times when you are planning a trip customers want to know how long does it take to get to Dulles Airport.

Generally speaking it takes about two hours to two and half hours from Central PA to get to Dulles Airport (IAD).

While its important to know your travel times here at Relax and Ride Carlisle we get you to the airport 3 hours prior to your flight.

Morning Travel

In the morning, going to Dulles Airport at around 2AM- 4AM is the best times to travel to the airport because going through Fredrick, MD and Leesburg one lane roads are the best. People are not yet going to work and there is very limited issues.

Morning travel can be very difficult around 6AM – 9AM. This is the time when everyone is going to work and there is more possibility of accidents and just normal congestion. As a traveler try to book air travel sooner in the morning or later in the evening,

Early Afternoon Travel

When you are going to the airport in the early afternoon this is not so bad. The morning commute has died down and now you have people doing daily chores. Going through Fredrick, MD is generally not horrible at all. Once you get to the one lane going towards Leesburg traffic is generally good.

Afternoon Travel

When it comes to the afternoon and you are scheduled to go to Dulles Airport there are several things to consider. First, expect to leave at least 30 minutes prior to original transfer time. The traffic is very heavy as this time. Most people are leaving work and going to Dulles can be brutal at this time.

Evening Travel

When leaving from Central PA to Dulles Airport in the evening is the best time. Most people have arrived home from work and traffic has died down significantly.
